DRK IN MEMORIAM
In Memoriam
“On the early morning Nov 1st, 2015 during the veil between worlds still at it’s thinnest, I lost my best friend. He was my soul brother, rival, and partner in artistic creativity. He is a major influence of who I am today as a person as well as an artist. It has now been ten whole years since that devastating night that changed me and everyone else who has been impacted by him.
The crimson red rose embroidered on the front of the shirt was designed by him in a sketchbook as an ex-libris. Roses were always utilized in his works as sort of a moniker. The illustration on the back of the shirt he originally done in ball point pen is what I feel, a self portrait or a reflected representation through one of his original characters of his internal struggles in the mind. Underneath his glowing smile and radiating presence and charm, there was an abyssal darkness which through his art he was able to express and leak out like black ichor. He was eclectic and captured the world in such a raw, yet terrifyingly beautiful way that bent and twisted in otherworldly forms. He was poetic and philosophical, cryptic and weird. He was kind, just, but also blunt and truthful while not being afraid to express an opinion. He was compassionate and comical and always sought to enjoy his time with family and friends.”
So, in order to honour him and the massive amount of talent he had, I wanted to lay an offering with this.
Brandon,
Forever, hail and farewell.
